Thundery rain for southern Italy

Friday
High pressure lies to the west of Iberia, promoting a general north-easterly wind flow across Spain and Portugal, with warmest temperatures for Andalucia and the Algarve, around 20C. Areas of rain affect the western Mediterranean, and around the coasts of Italy, although some of the islands may escape dry. Risk of thunderstorms for Sicily. Largely dry for the Balkans, Greece and areas toward the Black Sea, plus Hungary and much of the Alps.
Frontal systems affect northern-central Europe, bringing blustery conditions and outbreaks of rain or showers to northern France, the Low Countries, and Germany. Highs 9 to 13C. Risk of gales for North Sea coasts. Some heavy rain too for southern Scandinavia. Some rain for central Poland and also the Baltic states. Brighter for central Sweden and Finland. Windy with wintry showers for north-west Norway.

Saturday
Dry and warm again for south-west Spain and Portugal, topping 20C. A fair day across Iberia and the western Mediterranean. Low pressure over the southern-central Mediterranean brings a risk of rain for Sicily and southern Italy, perhaps extending to western Greece and Albania. Largely dry elsewhere across south-eastern Europe.
Fronts moving across northern France bring heavy rain and strong winds, which spreads to the BeNeLux region and later western Germany. A few showers across the Alps. Breezy for Poland and southern Scandinavia, with showers near the coasts. Clusters of showers for the Baltic states and eastern Sweden. Frequent rain and snow for western Norway. Generally cool across northern Europe.
