Very warm for most; cool Scandinavia


Tuesday
Fronts bring rain to western Spain and Portugal, with some thundery bursts possible. Eastern Spain stays dry and warm. A southerly breeze across France pushes temperatures to 20 to 24C, or locally warmer in the south-west - skies quite hazy, and a risk of patchy rain for Brittany.
High pressure influences central & eastern Europe, with extensive sunny skies and very warm temperatures, widely 20 to 22C for Germany and Poland, and 23 to 25C for Hungary, Romania and the Balkans. Likely above 25C for southern Italy and Greece .
A brisk southwesterly breeze for southern Scandinavia as the remnants of Hurricane Ophelia moves into Norway. This system has weakened considerably since affecting Britain and Ireland, but brings heavy rain to southern Norway. Snow showers in the far north. Some persistent rain for central Sweden and southern Finland.


Wednesday
Rain affects much of Spain and Portugal, with widespread thunderstorms for east & central Spain. Scattered thunderstorms will spread into south-western France, with some patchy rain for Brittany. Eastern France stays dry and warm, 19 to 23C.
Settled weather continues for central and eastern Europe, with early fog patches giving way to extensive sunshine. Around 20C in Germany, Poland and the Alps. Warmest temperatures will be in south-eastern Europe, over 25C in parts of Hungary, Romania and Greece. Dry and sunny for much of the Mediterranean too.
A chilly north-westerly breeze across northern Scandinavia brings snow showers to western Norway. Lighter winds for southern Norway. Fairly cloudy but mainly dry for southern Sweden and Denmark.
