Wet southern Scandinavia

Sunday
Hot and dry across southern Spain and Portugal, highs 33 to 38C. Cooler toward Biscay, nearer 25C. The Mediterranean sees widespread hot sunshine, with temperatures well into the 30s Celsius for Italy and Greece . High pressure across eastern Europe brings plenty of dry weather. Reaching 36C in Hungary, 28 to 33C in Poland and Romania. Scattered thunderstorms may break out over the northern Balkans later, drifting northwards. A more organised zone of thunderstorms is likely to develop across south-east France and the western Alps, and some thundery bursts passing east across Germany as a cold front advances east. Ahead of the front, reaching 30C in eastern Germany, but nearer 23C across the Low Countries. A south-westerly breeze across northern Europe. Persistent rain for southern Scandinavia. Largely dry until late afternoon around the Baltic. Warm and dry in Finland, 24C. Showery in the far north of Norway.

Monday
Another hot and sunny day across Iberia, with temperatures approaching 40C in southern Spain. Not as hot for north-west Spain and Portugal, highs 24 to 27C. Hot weather extends across southern & eastern Europe, as high pressure centred toward the Black Sea produces a southerly airflow, temperatures widely into the mid-30s Celsius. Extensively dry and sunny from Italy to Greece and Poland. Scattered thunderstorms for central France, the Pyrenees and also the western Alps. Fresher across north-western Europe. Sunny spells and passing showers for the Low Countries and Denmark. Breezy across Scandinavia, with persistent rain for western Norway. Drier for Sweden, and up to 25C on the Baltic coast. A cluster of thunderstorms is likely to affect northern Poland and the Baltic states.
